OPERA

This section of musical art, fascinated me since I was a boy. Late in the 40's a sinonym with this form of art for me stood three names  Beniamino Gigli - Mario Lanza and Oreste Kirkop who used to live a few doors down where I lived with my family in St. Joseph High Road Hamrun, at the beginning of his carreer.  I do not want to forget the number Cinema Theaters we had in Hamrun. But the most important was the Radio City Opera House  which after the war became  the mecca of opera after the destruction of the Teatru Rjal.   One also must not forget the Redifussion.  All this kindled in my heart an ever ending  enthusiasm  which until today still linger on.

The only year that I attended the Lyceum in Valletta  made me fall in love with the architecture of this edifice. One also has to bear in mind that in those days two thirds of the building still existed with all its majesty.  Further information is found at the Historical Background.

 
MY PLANS ABOUT THIS SITE

My plans about this site is to create a form of diary of the activities that were held in this theater. I hope that |I reach my goals after I spent more than 15 years reaseach on the newspapers of the time.
